‘Tonnach’

This side table was designed as a feature piece for a specific location in the client’s dining room.  Inspiration for the design came largely from one of our earlier pieces, the Barley Breeze table, which the client had seen and fallen in love with.

Perched high on slender tapered legs, the pale Scottish sycamore table top presents a bright platform while contrasting dark walnut lines create visual motion akin to the movement of long grass in the wind.

Its gaelic name, ‘Tonnach’, translates more or less as wavy or curvy but the gaelic word seems to connect the piece more readily to the natural environment which originally inspired it.

The original design was a little shorter but it was lengthened to enable the client to place a lamp at one end and still be able to see most of the table’s surface.  Such is the beauty of the bespoke process, you get to decide exactly how the piece will be!
